What is Caravan All About?

Caravan is a weekly scouting program that aids our children in becoming more like Jesus by encouraging their growth in the four specific areas mentioned in Luke 2:52:  mental (wisdom), physical (stature), spiritual (favor with God), and social (favor with men).  It also helps them develop an appreciation for and an understanding of Nazarene heritage and beliefs.  We use an active, hands-on learning approach to aid children in becoming better Christians.  Each skill or lesson learned is rewarded with badges to be displayed upon each child's formal uniform.  To encourage participation, children earn incentives for a variety of activities each week:

Attendance                     Bringing a friend                      Bringing Bible                 Wearing Uniform
Good Behavior               Reading Missionary Books        Books of Bible Memorization
Bible Verse Memorization                                                Bringing Donations          Bringing 50cent Dues

As one of our Mission Projects, we sponsor a child in Africa with our weekly dues of 50 cents.  We are helping to provide school supplies, food, and clothes for Sylvia.  We correspond with Sylvia every month, sharing how important God is in our lives.  We encourage you and your child to pray for Sylvia at home.

Please be sure to fill our a registration form to get your child started in Caravan!

Caravan takes place every Wednesday evening from September through May, beginning at 6:45 PM.  Check-in starts at 6:35 PM.  Please allow Guides enough time to prepare their rooms by adhering to the check-in time.

If you have any questions about Caravan, please feel free to talk to Pastor Heather or your child's Caravan Guide.  We look forward to seeing you on Wednesdays!

"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men"  (Luke 2:52)

If your child is new or has moved to a new class this year, please have them wear their shirt from the previous year or a white t-shirt.  Shirts are presented to new class members on Induction Night.  If you need a replacement t-shirt of scarf, badge, or vest, you may purchase one for $10.

No Scheduled Events for Selected Day

Our Annual Caravan Events

Caravan Sunday is an international event for local churches to celebrate the Nazarene Caravan program. This special day highlights the ministry of Caravan in the local church by recognizing children who participate in the program and honoring Caravan workers. The Caravan children participate in the Sunday morning service by taking the offering, singing, playing offertory, and greeting fellow Christians. It is the 3rd Sunday in October.

The Caravan Blue and White Dinner is a time for Caravan children to express their appreciation to the people who have helped them and supported the local Caravan program, whether it be the church leaders, their parents, friends, etc. The dinner is also a time for children to demonstrate their skills by preparing the dinner, decorating, serving as hosts and hostesses, and taking part in presentations. They will also be awarded badges during the Badge Ceremony.

At TCN, the Caravan families have an annual camping or fishing trip. This allows them the opportunity to work on several badges, while enjoying God's nature, spending quality time with friends and family, and drawing closer to God.

The Graduation Ceremony encompasses badge and award achievements as well as recognition for the development of character building and spiritual formation the children learned throughout the year. This is typically held at the end of the Caravan year.

Caravan Uniforms

Weekly Uniform
The Weekly Caravan Uniform allows your child to show their Caravan pride and earn points toward incentives.  The weekly uniform consists of their class t-shirt, which will be given to them at the Induction Ceremony or after they have attended three Caravan meetings.  (Replacement shirts my be purchased for $10.)

Official Uniform
The Official Caravan Uniform is worn during special events and consists of blue pants/skirt (preferably not jeans), white shirt and vest, scarf, or sash.  At the Induction Ceremony, children receive their first sash, vest, or scarf and badge to take home.  It is the child's responsibility to wear this uniform to special Caravan events.  Badges earned throughout the year will be distributed during special ceremonies and taken home to be sewn on by an adult.
